The latest Quilts of Love release, A Promise in Pieces by Emily Wierenga is receiving receiving glowing reviews.
MY THOUGHTS OF THIS BOOK:
Lately, I have been reading a lot of WWII era stories. My first thought was oh no another WWII story and was not particularly thrilled about reading another WWII era story, but how wrong when I got caught up in the story and realized it was not what it seemed.
It is a very thought provoking story of faith, love, friendship, loss and God's plan for our lives. How often do we make plans for what we are going to do with our future? We plan; dream and set goals to see those plans come to fruition. Then wham it happens, God starts stirring us and then our lives take a detour to other things in life. We suddenly realize that our plans are not His plans for our lives. I loved how you could see how God used Clara to care for wounded and dying soldiers. She later came to care for mothers and their newborns. How a simple quilt can provide hope to parents of newborns and soldiers too.
I love how the author made you feel like you were right there listening to Clara tell her story. It is very rare that a book that is told from a first person perspective grabs your attention. It was more like reading a memoir than an actual novel.
I have truly fallen in love with the Quilt of Love Series and can't wait to read more from this series.
This is a great read even if you are not a "fan" of WWII stories, you will fall in love with this book. This is by far the best read of mine this year! I give it 5 stars!
I received this in ebook format through NetGalley from the Publisher and Litfuse Publicity Group for my honest review of this book. I received no monetary compensation for my review whether good or not so good.
