A Story of Faith and Healing from Helo Matzelle’s ‘Halo Found Hope’ (Plus a Kindle Giveaway)

Halo Found Hope (December 2014)
Machines beeping, the blur of medical staff running, a crash cart whizzing into an ICU room—was there any hope?
A young woman lay, packed in ice, as doctors attempted to somehow stop the swelling in her brain that threatened to take her life… and her family waited.
Six days turned into eight weeks. She awoke to discover that she was not the same. She saw two of everything, couldn’t feel half of her face, couldn’t hear from one ear, and could not speak. She couldn’t even tell anyone that she felt hopeless… or could she?
Halo Found Hope is the story of a beautiful, busy wife, and mother of three whose life changes instantly with the diagnosis of a rare brain tumor. An exceptional ENT, a brilliant neurosurgeon and a dedicated medical team tackle the tumor, setting off a series of unbelievable miracles. Helo’s story is not one of survival, or of salvaging a life through a broken body. It is not about endurance through pain, but victory because of it. While the family heard her silence, God heard her prayer. Helo’s story is simply this: Wherever you are and whatever you are going through, God is right there. He doesn’t need to be re cognized by you, to be there for you. He can replace fear with courage and discouragement with determination, if you let Him. Helo did, and that is how she found hope.

Helouise “Halo” Matzelle led a charmed life until receiving a shocking diagnosis in 2011 of a rare brain tumor sitting over the main artery in her brain. Matzelle’s passion is helping those who face various challenges and afflictions discover where true hope is found. She resides in Redmond, WA, with her husband and their three children.

MY REVIEW OF THIS BOOK:  You need to grab this book along with a box of tissues when you read it.  This is the journey of Helo "Halo" Matzelle from a vibrant woman, wife and mother of three children to diagnosis of a rare brain tumor to fighting for her life.

Helo's story really brings to the forefront the scripture Jeremiah 29:11 that our plans are not our own, but they are God's.  What we want out in life is not always what we want and it does not always work the way we think that it should work.  It was a touching story to read Helo's journey from being an active woman to a woman fighting for her life.  It was not a story of wake up one day sick, healed and 100% normal.  Sometimes that is the case and then sometimes it is not the case.  Sometimes healing is a process and we are not the person that we were going in and different coming out of a sickness.  But even though healing came through a process, she has a ministry now that helps others that are going through similar situations.

So through Helo's story let God minister to you through her story a story of hope and healing.

This story of hope and faith in the midst of great physical and medical adversity is sure to encourage you in your faith. Helo Matzelle's Halo Found Hope is a must-read. Machines beeping, the blur of medical staff running, a crash cart whizzing into an ICU room—was there any hope? Halo Found Hope is the story of a beautiful, busy wife and mother of three whose life changes instantly with the diagnosis of a rare brain tumor.

Kindle Giveaway, Blog Tour, and Author Chat Party with Colleen Coble

A Heart’s Disguise (Thomas Nelson, March 2015)
In the aftermath of the Civil War, a young woman searches for her lost love at the edge of the West.
The Civil War has destroyed Sarah Montgomery’s marriage before it’s even begun.
After Sarah receives word that her fiancé, Rand Campbell, has been killed fighting for the Union, her brothers and ailing father persuade her to pledge herself to Ben Croftner—despite her strong misgivings. But when Sarah finds out that Rand is in fact alive—and that Ben Croftner knew it—she indignantly breaks off the engagement and goes in search of Rand.
But Ben Croftner does not take rejection lightly—and a single woman with a sick father makes an easy target. When Sarah is abducted by her treacherous fiancé, Rand finally comes to her aid . . . only to reveal that he has been posted at Fort Laramie, Wyoming, and intends to take her there as his wife.
But could Sarah leave her dying father’s side for the love of her life? And what plans are forming in the jealous heart of Ben Croftner?

Colleen Coble has sold over 2 million novels worldwide. "Seagrass Pier," the third installment in her acclaimed Hope Beach series, marks a new highpoint for emotion and complexity in Coble’s addictive brand of romantic suspense.

MY REVIEW OF THIS BOOK:  I must admit that I am not a big fan of series and novella, but then again I think reading this book has changed my mind.

Sarah was tired of the celebrations commemorating the end of the Civil War.  She was ready to stay at home and spend some time with her dying father.  Friends and family was pushing her to go and have fun.  Her father and brother were pushing for her to move past her grief and get on with her life and wanted her to be with someone that she does not and will not love.

What happens when you lose your one true love?  Can you move on with your life with someone that you have no feelings for?  Is wealth and recognition more important than a life filled with love and a good character?  What happens when someone that is suppose to love you and only to find out they have have been dishonest and committed the ultimate betrayal?  Can someone rise from the dead?   Will Sarah and Rand be together or will the lies of Ben Coftner split them apart?   You will have to read the series to find out the answer these questions.

I see these mini-series type of one novel an excellent opportunity for people who don't have time to sit down and read a full length novel, but has time for a Novella or a Mini-Series.

In the midst of end-of-war celebrations, Sarah discovers her betrothed was keeping a devastating secret in Colleen Coble's A Heart's Disguise. Will Sarah leave her dying father’s side for the only man she’s ever loved? And what plans are forming in the jealous heart of Ben Croftner?

New from Max Lucado | ‘Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe’ and iPadGiveaway

Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe (Thomas Nelson, February 2015)
What if you could ask God anything? What would you ask? And how would he answer?
Chelsea Chambers is on her own. After a public split from her NFL superstar husband, Chelsea takes a bold step out of the limelight and behind the counter of the Higher Grounds Café, an old-fashioned coffee shop in dire need of reinvention. But when her courage, expert planning, and out-of-this-world cupcakes fail to pay the bills, this newly single mom finds herself desperate for help. Better yet, a miracle.
Then a curious stranger lands at Chelsea’s door, and with him, an even more curious string of events. Soon, customers are flocking to the Higher Grounds Café, and not just for the cupcakes and cappuccino. They’ve come for the internet connection to the divine. Now the café has become the go-to place for people in search of answers to life’s biggest questions.
When a catastrophe strikes and her ex comes calling, Chelsea begins to wonder if the whole universe is conspiring against her quest to make it on her own. After a shocking discovery opens her eyes to the unseen world around her, Chelsea finds the courage to ask, and heaven answers in a most unexpected way.

More than 120 million readers have found comfort in the writings of Max Lucado. He ministers at the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he lives with his wife, Denalyn, and a sweet but misbehaving mutt, Andy.

MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS OF THIS BOOK:  When I first signed up for this book tour, I must say that I was a little apprehensive about a writer and teacher like Max Lucado coming along and writing a novel.

I was presently surprised when I first started reading it that it immediately drew me in and held my attention from the beginning to the end.   Who knew you could put a modern day twist on the tale of It's A Wonderful Life.  We can all relate to the sensationalism of Sports heros, love for coffee, a new love for cupcakes with a twist.  There you have a basis for a seemingly old story with a new modern day twist to it.

I like how Max draws you into the different lives of people in the coffee shop.  Chelsea Chambers comes home to run the shop after the passing of her mom and her separation from her High School Sweetheart and NFL superstar husband.  After a slow start, a stranger comes to the Cafe' seeking work and then when the God Blog shows up on a mysterious router business starts to boom.

How would you react if God actually had a blog?  If you were given the opportunity to ask a question, what would you ask God.   How would He answer you?  Would be how you wanted or what He wanted for you?  Will Chelsea make peace with her past and move forward toward reconciling with her husband and estranged father?   What happens to the Cafe' and will Chelsea finally ask a question and receive an answer on the God Blog?

Please join me and find out the answers to these questions in this delightful read of Miracle At The Higher Grounds Cafe'.

In Max Lucado's new fiction release, Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe, he asks, If you could ask God anything, what would you ask—and how would he answer? When a catastrophe strikes and her ex comes calling, Chelsea begins to wonder if the whole universe is conspiring against her quest to make it on her own. After a shocking discovery opens her eyes to the unseen world around her, Chelsea finds the courage to ask, and heaven answers in a most unexpected way.
