  • ISBN 978-1-4016-8835-6
(I received this book as a free giveaway directly from the publisher)

WOW!!!  I have started my New Years resolution off to a great start.   This is a new Christian Author and a genre that I tend to shy away from after my high school days.  What an exciting book this has been for me it takes me back to my love of reading and makes me want to revisit the classics again.  I received this paperback book free last year from the publisher in a Facebook raffle!   Yes, I have actually picked up a "real" book instead of an ebook this year and another new start for me too.  I will not be biased in my reviews here and no spoilers either!

This book takes place in Darbury England in 1814.   It took me in from the very first paragraph and did not let me down.   It took me back to the days of reading the classics and what made me love reading so much.   I have realized how much I missed reading Jane Eyre and other stories in this era.

It was a very thought provoking book with twists, turns and mysteries.  It also made me look at the fact that every decision we make will have an effect on others.   We can't just think selfishly or hastily when we make a decision.   It also brings out how easy it is to hide your true self until things start to come to light.  Eventually, the person that they truly are will come out.  It is difficult to go back to the era of arranged marriages and where power, money and greed were prevalent in that era.   Women had no other choices and was basically at the mercy of an arranged marriage.  It takes you back when people traveled by horses, carriages and by way of the sea.   Also, when England and the US were engaged in war.

Once I picked it up it was hard to put this book down and now on to book two The Headmistress of Rosemere by Sarah E. Ladd and it was another free book from the author for a review.

God bless, Tia
